Patio outside with well

Spacious patio outdoors with an old well that can be easily turned into a beautiful fountain.

Tile Floors

These are the tile patterns of the floors in the first two rooms.

Stairs

Stairs from the kitchen up to the second story bedroom.

Upstairs bathroom

Spacious, for an original Merida colonial home. Nice big window that looks out to the trees.

Upstairs bedroom

The upstairs bedroom was added on later in the house's history. It has built-in wooden closets that are in good condition, and it opens onto the patio. All the floors are the same dark red mosaicos.

View from Upstairs

This is the beautiful view from the upstairs balcony of the house, looking into the center of the block. Who would know you are only five blocks from the zocalo, four blocks from the mercado, three blocks from the Railroad Station and two blocks from Mejorada?

Its very quiet in the house, even when there is traffic on the street.

Gates

These are the iron gates between the breakfast room and the patio. You can also see the original protectores (iron grills) that are on the windows. You can see beyond through the dining room and front living room to the front door of the house.

Breakfast room

Not sure what to call this room. It is just off the kitchen and open to the patio in back. It has a built in cabinet with a mirrored back that is under a hood of some kind. We have not been able to figure out what the purpose of this is....

Here you can easily see the color of the dark red floor tiles that are in the back four rooms of the house.

Kitchen

This is the kitchen. On your right is a built-in cabinet, all original and in good condition. The kitchen also has a window out to the patio, and another door to a breakfast area that goes out to the patio. Beyond the kitchen is the downstairs bathroom.

Bedroom

Here, you are looking from the front room, back through a bedroom and into the kitchen. There are original wood doors painted white between each room. The closest ones are screen doors.

You can also see a glimpse of the stairs going from the kitchen up to the second story to the larger bedroom and bath.

Swinging Doors

This is the other pair of original swinging doors. These doors are at least fifty years old and are in perfect condition.

Front bedroom

Here you can see the floors and the original wooden windows in one of the front rooms. The rooms is half the width of the building, which would make it a little over 4 meters, and therefore about 12 feet wide.

Original doors

These are a pair of the original doors.

Large Backyard

The very large backyard.

In the middle is a lovely, mature Royal Palm... it's beautiful! Towards the back you can see another mature tree, a ciruela (plum tree) that is quite beautiful. Behind it (invisible in this photo) are two mature citrus trees.

This yard is plenty big enough to build an additional structure (a nice master bedroom and bath?) and a swimming pool.

Next door on the left is a very well-kept apartment building owned by some Americans. On the right is the house of an older lady and next to her, a large colonial home being renovated by other extranjeros.

Contact Me

Original colonial home on a BIG lot that is getting harder and harder to
find downtown. And a fringe benefit is that it is right across the street
from the Electric Plant which quietly toils away, providing the city with
electricity and guaranteeing your neighborhood will never be invaded by
noisy neighbors, a disco moving next door or other neighborhood menaces. The
previous owner lived in this house for 80 years and expressed gratitude for
its comforting presence.

-Two story home on 497 square meter lot (8 meters by 49 meters).
-Original mosaico tile floors, mamposteria walls and original doors & windows
-Fruit trees and a palm tree in the backyard
-Property large enough for big pool and even additional building
-Great location two blocks from Mejorada and 3 blocks from new
Railroad-Station art school (and five blocks from the zocalo). Across the street from CFE so you'll be the first to get your power back after hurricanes. Two other renovated houses or soon-to-be (bought by gringos) renovated houses on that block.

The house is liveable (the bathrooms work and are clean, the house is clean, the roofs don't leak, etc.) but it could definitely stand a little renovation. It has great bones and lots of extra backyard for building something wonderful!

Great opportunity!

I'm asking $79,900 USD which is a excellent price for this house with this much land.

Email me or call me toll-free in the US 1-888-418-0402 or in Merida 999-928-0727 for more info or to see the house!
